Our 2015 artist-designer in residence has been awarded by the Society of Experiential Designers, Washington, D.C.

On June 11, Professor Anne Bush (Resident Designer/Artist 2015) was one of eleven designers worldwide to receive an Honor Award from the Society of Experiential Designers (SEGD). Selected from three hundred and seventy-one entries from seventeen countries, the project—Contro Spazio: Punti in Aria—was a public installation mounted at the SG Gallery in Venice, Italy in 2015. Notably, international jury members commended the project not only for its visual appeal, but also for engaging the public through an economy of means. Jurors praised the design for “using accessible mediums to encourage civic action and understanding” and for creating “a graphically delightful and “sophisticated interactive intervention.”

“Since 1987, SEGD’s Global Design Awards have honored design that connects people to place by providing direction, content, and compelling experiences. . . . ‘The world is wide open for designers, who are leading the charge to create true user-centered experiences. They are also guided by Design Thinking and solid principles of design for user experiences.,.’ says Stephen Minning, founder and managing director of BrandCulture (Sydney) and chair of the 2016 SEGD Global Design Awards. ‘These principles are represented in the winning work.’
